Sheryl Miller, Ph.D., PMP

Director of Human Performance and User Experience

Sheryl holds her M.A. and Ph.D. in Psychology (Human Factors and Applied Cognition) from George Mason University and holds her B.A. in Psychology from the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Geneseo, having minored in Organizational and Occupational Behavior. Sheryl has worked in transportation research since 2002 with experience including pedestrian and bicyclist safety, accessibility and inclusive design, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Automated Driving Systems (ADS), occupant protection, alcohol- and drug-impaired driving, drowsy driving, and Transportation Management Centers (TMC). Sheryl is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with expertise in project/portfolio management. Sheryl’s research expertise is devoted to ensuring that user experience – of roads, technologies, tools, etc. – maximizes safety, equity, and satisfaction. Sheryl’s skills include research design; experimental studies in the lab or field; literature reviews and technology scans; reviews of practice and program evaluation; capturing and interpreting stakeholder perspectives with surveys, interviews, and focus group meetings; and Human-Centered Design (HCD) and usability evaluation. Sheryl is a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES), Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and User Experience Professionals Association (UXPA).
